The World Around You

Muslimiam’s Philosophies’ of the Dunia January 4, 2010

Interest. What’s that? What do you mean? Ever heard someone ask what is interest? Love and hate, dislike and like. I doubt it.

I thought of it not a long while ago and decided to write my thoughts upon I, this might also lead me to write a minuscule amount of the astronomical, uncatchable thoughts speeding in my cranium. I will probably call it Muslimiam’s Philosophies. If anyone has got a better name, feel free to express it. To me though…

What makes us, humans, ‘have interest’? First though, what IS interest? I got no idea, but the closest I can get is saying that it is a feeling of love or hate, curiosity or apathy towards a person or object or even a thought. Interest is felt (I think, I am not a doctor) by feelings, or instinct. Which leads us to: what is instinct, what are feelings? But u can forget that I asked that question, for that is not the topic today, and might never be.

Now I will try to only give my opinion on the first question (What’s interest.) I think, so far, that our interest is built on our childhood, and maybe even when we weren’t born yet. You heard of how music affects the baby through the womb, etc?                                                                                                                                                                                                             Interest is affected by the way we were raised, the formula our brains uses when thinking, the formula which grows with us.  When I say ‘raised’, it includes everything we had while we were kids. From the color of our hair till the environment about us till things we don’t know about, including radiation and everything else we don’t see. After all the things we learn, and our experiences through childhood, we start having our own opinions and thoughts, the beginning of a formula. This is what gives us our ‘interest.’

For example, a guy that has grown up in Iraq during the modern wars would have interest in fighting, would be aggressive, unless of course, his family supports peace and sent that message to him, or his family supports violence but the child had too much of it and had grown to detest it. It all depends- in my opinion it’s too complex to study.

A guy that has grown up in the North Pole and lives his adult life in Africa might have a tendency to a fire place in his home, even though no one needs a fireplace in Africa, not that I know of. He might not use it but he like living with it.

A guy born in Russia might prefer republic to democracy. And another alike guy born in the US might prefer the opposite. It really all depends.

I am not sure if there are any specialists in this domain, for I am only writing on the raw experience that I got from meeting people and reading. Feel free to give theories or comments by comments.

Historic Islamic Poetry Part 5 and 6

C.5 When men spread themselves over the earth,

And became many nations,

Speaking diverse languages,

And observing diverse customs and laws;

The evils became multiplied,

As one race or nation

Became alienated from another

The brotherhood of man was now doubly forgotten—

First, between individuals, and secondly between nations.

Arrogance, selfishness, and untruth

Were sown and reaped in larger fields;

And Peace, Faith, Love and Justice

Were obscured over masses of men,

As large tracts of land are starved

Of sunshine by clouds floating far on high.

C.6 But Allah, in His infinite mercy and love,

Who forgives and guides individuals and nations,

And turns to good even what seems to use evil,

Never forsakes the struggling soul that turns to Him,

Nor the groups of men and women

Who join together to obey His Will and Law

And strengthen each other in unity and truth,

Nor the Nations that dwell

In mountain or valley, heat or cold,

In regions fertile or arid,

In societies that roam over land or seas,

Or hunt, or tend flocks, or till the soil,

Or seek the seas for food or oil or fat or gems,

Or dig out from bowels of the earth

Precious stones or metals or stored-up heat and energy,

Or practice arts and crafts, or produce abundant wealth

By machines of ingenious workmanship,

Or live a frugal life of contemplation,

For all are creatures of one God,

And share His loving care

And must be brought within the pale

Of His eternal unity and harmony

Meritable Islamic Poetry Part 3 and 4

C.3 But, created though he was in the best of moulds,

Man fell from the Unity when his Will was warped,

And he chose the crooked path of Discord.

And sorrow and pain, selfishness and degradation.

Ignorance and hatred, despair and unbelief

Poisoned his life, and he saw shapes of evil

In the Physical, moral, and spiritual world,

And in himself

C. 4 Then did his soul rise against himself,

And his self-discord made discord between kith and kin:

Men began to fear the strong and oppress the weak,

To boast in prosperity, and curse in adversity.

And to flee each other, pursuing phantoms,

For the truth and reality of Unity

Was gone from their minds.

The Revolution’s Beforemath Islamic Writings November 18, 2009

Wanting to enhance-amass my Islamic, worldly knowledge and cultivate abilities of wisdom, I turned to books. I find reading books much more enjoyable than reading them off my screen, more healthy too even if it is less advanced.

My family used to have amplitude of aged books. Which I prefer to new ones sometimes for reasons of pure knowledge that new books, simply, do not have. A lot of these books either got lost through time or got sold, which is almost the same as lost but still, there are some thank God in our library.

While following my thirst for wisdom and knowledge I stumbled upon an accomplished book dating the writing from somewhere around 1934( I’m not sure and too lazy to go see it). It was    “The Holy Qur’an Translated, Author Abdullah Yusuf Ali, New revised Edition”. What more could I ask for? Old and Islamic. Perfect. The really nice thing was that it was translated to English, which is the only language I like reading in.

After reading the long prologue and author’s note (most of it at least) the book had a weird section which I never found in any other. It was after the Contents and prologue but before the actual Quranic Translation. It didnt even have a title.

Looking at it, you would perceive that it was poetry, and guess what. It was.

My interest and curiosity relentlessly pulling me, I started reading.

The next day I logged on the internet and started searching for parts of it but I only found one site that had/has any, but the site wasn’t opening with me. Learning this and being backed up with wanting to keep the peotry in the hands of others and the book being a bit old plus Islamic, I decided that publishing it on the net was not plagiarism, but totally the opposite. Other than the fact that American laws do not limit my actions and Syrian and Islamic ones give me freedom.

This is what I am going to start my Internet-Islamic Revolution with. Superior Islamic poetry.

I just hope that you will like it as much as me or even more, and have the capacity to understand it.

I will only post 2 parts for now and update it regularly. Please comment any criticism and opinions.

SUPERIOR ISLAMIC POETRY Part uno and dos

C.1 Glory to Allah Most High, full Grace and Mercy;

He Created All, including Man.

To Man He gave a special place in His Creation

He honored man to be His Agent,

And to that end, endued him with understanding.

Purified his affections, and gave him spiritual insight;

So that man should understand Nature,

Understand himself,

And know Allah through His wondrous signs,

And glorify Him in Truth, reverence, and unity.

C.2 For the fulfillment of this great trust

Man was further given a Will,

So that his act should reflect Allah’s universal Will and Law,

And his mind, freely choosing,

Should experience the sublime joy

Of being in Harmony with the infinite,

And with the great drama of the world around him,

And with his own spiritual growth

Diary of ME! Islamic Ethics and Cellular Phones November 14, 2009

14/11/09 Saturday

Most of the time, the one thing I think about after the last lesson of the day at school is my Pc! And Food! Today I convinced my Dad to go with me to buy meat sharwana (Its like a meat sandwich, with mayo and parsley). While getting ready to go, my Dad finished before me and decided to go before me, and I would meet up with him on the street. I got dressed, went downstairs and started going to the resteraunt. While I was calling my Dad to see where he was so I could meet with him I heard some ringing. Ringing from the darkness. It was a digital ringing, and I was used to hearing ringing because people always turn on their songs in the middle of the street. It was also very close, and continuous. The ringing wasn’t any song or something, it was those defaults that come with the phone. Of course I realized it was a phone from the rhythm. I got a busy message while calling, ended the call and tried to find the source of the ringing. I looked back, and spotted a white flashing on the ground, in the middle of the street. It was dark and I couldn’t make out what it was exactly. Of course, from all my experience and wisdom, I had plenty of ideas running through my head. Most of them were things like “This could be a prank or Hidden Camera”. I mean, it is weird situation, what would you do in my place? There I was frozen in my place on the sidewalk. I looked around to see if anyone was looking, and found nothing suspicious. So I walked towards the flashing object and picked it up. After realizing that it was ringing, I decided to answer.

“Hello” I said, I felt really weird and I still think I talked in a stupid way.

“Hello, who is talking to me” Said a young girl.

I had no intention to say my name or give any information about myself, I still didn’t really know what was happening. I like being cautious. Better safe than sorry. So I replied “I found this phone on the ground?”

“Oh yea, this is my Moms phone”

“uhm, yes?”

“Well” said the girl. “where can you give us the phone?”

“Well, where are you? I am in Mashroo3 Dumar near the Fire Fighters Department”

“Oh ok, we are close can you wait there 5 minutes please?”

“Sure, I am waiting there.”

“Ok thanks a lot”

I waited 5 minutes, and each car that passed, I tried to see through the dark car windows to see if anyone was looking for me. After waiting a bit, the phone started ringing again. They asked me again where I was, and I replied the same answer, and that I was waiting for them, they told me they are there. I looked up and saw a white sedan pull up in front of me, it seemed like a Volkswagen. I didn’t really pay attention to what the car was, but while recalling it through memory I remember it was white and looked like a volkswagen. I peered through the windows and saw a women driving, the mother, and her daughter sitting near her, with some kids in the back. Then I said “Here is the phone, the screen is broken by the way, good bye”

And I walked off, I know it was awkward but I was supposed to be with my dad not talking with strangers. Apparently they thought the same thing, so after a couple of seconds of walking they moved the car towards me and horned. I looked back wondering what was it they wanted. While I approached the car, I stopped short. I saw the mother offering me cash and saying that she wants to give them to be because I am a good person. I said “what the heck” and took the money then walked off.

I am kidding ;)

I saw the women offering money, and stopped short. She said that she wants me to have the money because I am a good person. I told her that I won’t take any cash, and that she is welcome for my help, and good bye. Once again I walked off. Then I saw my Dad walking towards me carrying my tasty sandwich. Hmmmmm, food!
